Yesterday during an interview for POOL FISHING, my new story collection, the reporter said there was so much music in the collection she wondered if it was on purpose? Did I put much thought into the songs chosen?

I’m often surprised what readers tell me about my stories. Music is such a part of my life—husband a musician, son a musician, I’ve studied music and played the flute—that no, the songs appeared and I forgot they were there.

But after we talked, I went through all the stories and wrote down the titles—I hope I didn’t miss any—and created this playlist on Spotify. They’re not songs I listened to while writing, but songs that affect my characters’ lives, in various ways.
